Inspection systems are used to detect particles, pattern defects, and process-induced defects, any of which can occur on the mask or wafer during the fabrication process. Typically detection results from the inspection systems are fed to defect review systems for further analysis. With the right technology, many a defect root cause can be identified inline, leading to accelerated process response.
